Position Purpose

Under the supervision of the Prison Programs Coordinator, the part-time instructor is responsible for teaching course content, preparing, and keeping appropriate records and syllabi for all assigned courses. The part-time instructor will provide effective instruction in all classes by implementing active learning strategies and focusing on student learning outcomes.

At all times, instructional personnel should be aware of the need to continue the personal and professional growth necessary to perform their duties.

Minimum Qualifications

*High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years of hands-on experience in the commercial cleaning field

*Applicant must be able to pass establised security clearance to gain access to a state prison.

Preferred Qualifications

*Teaching experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study preferred.

*Degrees and hours must be from a regionally accredited college or university.

Physical Demands

Standard physical demands of instruction including reaching, continuous movement, grasping, standing, repetitive movement, using wrist, hands, and/ or fingers. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Essential Duties

•Conduct class, lab, and/or clinical according to established meeting patterns, and notify Coordinator of any changes.
•Provide feedback to students regarding course progression.
•Inform Coordinator and Prison Staff of any student issues (academic, attendance, behavior, cheating, and plagiarism) as soon as possible.
•Assess student learning outcomes and demonstrate the use of the results to make improvements to course/program.
•Maintain suitable class records which show student attendance, academic progress, student grading systems, etc. in accordance with semester guidelines.
•Experiment with new, innovative teaching techniques.

Salary Range $23.85-$27.61 hourly based on level of education
