Position Purpose

In accordance with the organizational chart and overall plan of Vance-Granville Community College, the Child Care Center Substitute reports to the Manager of the Child Care Center. The principal purpose of this position is to serve as a substitute staff member in the Child Care Center.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Must be free of habits injurious to children

• Must be willing to submit to local, state and federal criminal background checks

• Must submit a signed health statement at the time of employment

• Must submit evidence of T.B. test at the time of employment. Cannot be more than 12-months old)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an early childhood setting or Child Care Center

Physical Demands

Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Essential Duties

• Support and supervises children in the Child Care Center
• Maintain appropriate records and files on children, staff, etc., in accordance with current child care licensing law;
• Implement rules and regulations required by the five star rating;
• Coordinate special activities and functions for children and their parents
• Coordinate efforts to adhere to all sanitation regulations;
• Coordinate efforts to maintain and promote parent communication and participation in the Early Childhood Program;
• Serve as a resource person for parents, as well as others in the community, with an interest in the Early Childhood Program;
• Participate in ongoing staff development activity in order to comply with the Division of Child Development’s requirements;
• Earn and maintain certifications in First Aid and Infant/Child CPR through an approved agency;
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager of the Child Care Center
