Position Purpose

VGCC is continuously recruiting for part-time instructors in the following area:

Heavy Equipment Operator

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

5 years heavy equipment operating experience or 3 years heavy equipment operating experience and an Associate’s Degree in Diesel Equipment Technician or a degree in a related program of study.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer individuals with a CDL license, teaching experience, 5 years experience and an Associate’s Degree in Diesel Equipment Technician or degree in a related program of study.

Physical Demands

Applicants must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

Essential Duties

1) Teach assigned classes.
2) Assist the Program Head or Department Chairperson with all instructional activities within the program to include, but not limited to:

a. Development, maintenance, and evaluation of educational materials pertinent to individual and total program needs
b. Maintaining suitable class records which show student membership hours, academic progress, student grading system, etc.
c. Recommending adoption or discontinuance of textbooks and/or other instructional supplies and equipment to the Program Head or Department Chairperson.
d. Recommending new books, magazines, materials and equipment for use in the LRC to Program Head or Department Chairperson.
e. Maintaining appropriate course documents, such as syllabi, objectives, tests, lesson plans, etc.
3) Participate as a member of assigned institutional committees and attend scheduled meetings.
4) Serve as a faculty advisor for assigned students in matters pertaining to an adviseeā€™s academic progress, scheduling and related matters.
5) Engage in a program of professional development.
6) Experiment with new, innovative teaching techniques.
7) Assume other duties as assigned by the Program Head of Department Chairperson.

Salary Range $22.50 to $25.75 an hour based on level of education.
